Jack Rabbit Gallery announces a solo exhibition with Leslie Gaworecki, one of Houston’s most prominent artists. JRG will be hosting the opening reception on Saturday, November 16th from 6-9pm at 228 E 27th St., Houston TX 77008 (corner of 27th and Cortlandt).
Gaworecki’s work, while primarily abstract expressionist, incorporates elements of contemporary street art and color field painting. This solo exhibition showcases Gaworecki’s exceptional talent at balancing bold colors with line and even text, giving the viewer a glimpse into what she describes as the “release of expectations.”
This solo exhibition will be on display through Saturday November 23, 2019, when a closing reception will be hosted at the gallery from 6-9 pm.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Leslie Gaworecki has been a full-time artist for the past 15 years. After moving often and living abroad for much of her youth, she received a BFA in photography from The Ohio State University and found her way back to Texas. Leslie spent the next decade photographing people and events across the country and teaching herself to paint. In 2016 she began showing paintings in her Houston studio and in exhibitions within the city. Leslie’s most recent work explores longing for place - places from the past, places called home, unseen places of the future. Mostly acrylic with some mixed media, her painting practice is driven by color and the surprises that happen when she releases expectation. Leslie lives with her husband and four young sons who inspire her mark-making and her tendency toward whimsy.
