Born in Houston, Texas, Paul Atwell grew up in a family of artists. He decided at the age of 7 to become an artist, and he's been working toward that goal ever since. He began his artistic career as a mural artist. He painted murals for local coffee shops, bookstores, day spas, the St. Regis hotel (Houston), and San Jacinto Junior College South campus (collaborative).
In 2002 Paul was selected for the foreign exchange program to exchange to Xalapa, Veracruz Mexico. This experience was life-changing. He had never been in an immersive environment that revered art and artists as a sacred part of society. After Mexico Paul began his career in the corporate world. His plan was to become a graphic designer by day, artist by night; satisfying his need for stability, and his passion for art as a creative outlet. Currently, Paul has chosen to focus on insects and arachnids for artistic inspiration because bugs teach us that life depends on the small things that we take for granted every day, beautiful or otherwise.
