Don Longo
Don Long grew up in Lee, Massachusetts, where he lived within a 15 minute bike ride of Norman Rockwell's Art Studio. He would ride there whenever possible and dreamed of the day he would become an artist like Rockwell. After college, Don took a job as a high school art teacher in Texas. After enjoying a teaching career of 38 years in Texas high schools, he retired and can now pursue his lifelong dream of being the artist dreamed of being as a young boy. Longo has always been intrigued with textures, and his art explores what different textural methods and materials can do to enhance contemporary abstraction. Each painting explores the art and design of this element of art. Longo finds inspiration for his art in landscapes and atmospheric perspectives and how they make the viewer feel. Subjects come from past travel experiences as well as Longo’s own imagination.
